Dear Sons and Daughters of Saint Gregory’s Church of Philadelphia,
I invite you to participate in our fourth annual Advent season fundraiser. The purpose of Advent is self-reflection and generosity of spirit. I am asking families to champion a message for one of the six weeks of Advent. To this end, I invite those who feel so moved to make a donation tied to the message of that particular Advent week. This is an opportunity to champion one of the following important messages:
Advent Week 1 (November 27): “Fight Against Greed” (Luke 12:13-31)
Advent Week 2 (December 4): “Repent” (Luke 13:1-9)
Advent Week 3 (December 11): “Be Charitable” (Luke 14:12-24)
Advent Week 4 (December 18): “Be Forgiving” (Luke 17:1-10)
Advent Week 5 (December 25): “Be Humble” (Luke 18:9-14)
Advent Week 6 (January 1, 2023): “Invest Your Talents” (Luke 19:12-28)
If you would like honor an individual, family, or loved one with your sponsorship, please indicate this on the form below. Their names will be displayed in white lettering on the Advent Tree. In recognition of the exceptionally trying times we are living in, it is especially important that we also consider our essential workers who have shepherded us through the COVID-19 pandemic. Our spiritual leaders, educators, and healthcare providers, just to name a few, have tended to our mind, body and spirit. In addition to selecting a week where the Advent message resonates with you, we further urge you to consider sponsoring these individuals in appreciation of their service. We will specifically recognize them by highlighting their names in gold on the Advent Tree. If you choose this option, please consider sharing their special story of how the essential worker touched your life or the lives of others.
An 8 foot Advent Tree will proudly display the names of families who have chosen to sponsor each week’s message. By making a donation during Advent of $100 or more your name will appear on the Advent Tree. The Advent Tree will be displayed starting November 22nd in the church vestibule. While the season of Advent may seem far away, the messages are ones we should strive to keep in our hearts all year.
I hope you will consider participating. For more information call Mary Harper at 215 327 7080.
